Default taking my cooler off the ship at the ports

this will be my first time at getting off the ship and spending the day lounging at the beach and just shopping in the ports. can we take our smaller soft sided cooler off the ship with our own water and maybe a pre-mixed drink for our day away from the ship. i dont want to spend a ton of money for bottled water in the ports and on any pre-mixed drinks we might want. i know we cant bring alchohol back on that we might buy in the port. any help here please reply.

thanks alot

We took ours with us, off the ship, and no one took a second look. Maybe the experts can tell you their experience.

They're not going to say anything about the water or drinks.........they might check for food; I think anything pre-packaged would be fine. I think it also depends on the ports; some have stricter rules. If you do want to pack a sandwich or something, just put it in your beach bag until you get off the ship; they certainly won't look in there. Many people do bring food off of the ship.

Regarding alcohol..........yes, you can bring it back; but, since everything is scanned (for security) chances are they'll see it and make you "check it" until the last night of the cruise, when it will be delivered to your stateroom (I believe they deliver; or else there is a time/place to pick it up).

I've never had 'em take any liquor I bought in port ... I just put it in the backpack and let them scan away.

thanks everybody for the replies and the help. we will already have our wine, soda and water in the cabin. so i just want to make sure we can take it off so we will have it while we are laying on the beach. it sounds like it wont be any problem for us. i dont expect to be buying any at the ports so getting it back on the ship wont be a problem ( we will have it all drank by then hahahaha ). thanks again.
