Default Port of New Orleans Question

Anyone departed from New Orleans lately?
I did in November and it was under construction, and embarkment was terrible.
Have the improvements been completed.
Thanks,

I left from there in May and the construction was almost complete. However, I am going there tomorrow for a convention and can let you know in more detail on the status when I get back.

We went in June..............we arrived at the port at 10:30am, and couldn't get into the building because people were still getting off the ship. We were able to get our luggage to a porter, check in and sit down closer to 11am. By 12:10 we were taking our welcome aboard picture and on the ship before 12:30pm.

There's just A LOT of people waiting around the port for buses and taxis. That's why the early birds, like us, had to wait a while. Not a big deal though, just get there a little later and it should be better.

A tip for your debarkation day.......if you don't want to wait in the big line for taxis, and don't have too much luggage, walk away from the port a couple of blocks and then hail a taxi. We started walking and then just decided to walk the whole way to the Drury Inn and Suites! Friends of ours, who were flying out later that day, took a Carnival tour of New Orleans and said that was also stress-free. They were among the first off the ship; they collected their luggage and brought it to the bus and that was it. They had a nice tour of the city, a couple of hours to shop/eat in the French Quarter, and then the bus dropped them off at the airport. They felt it was well worth the $$$ (about $50 per person).

Hey,
Me again, we are going to be driving, need to park auto. Last November it was awfull.
We had to wait for a bus to take us to a parking lot to pick up auto.
