Default Whale Watching

We want to do a Mexican Riviera cruise to do whale watching.

Any recommendations on best time of year, best ports with chance to spot whales, and cruise line recommends.

In early, early February, we saw a lot of whales outside Cabo San Lucas on the Pride ... I beleive that is one part of the season.

Can someone confirm that the whale watching season is Jan-Mar?

I might head down there mid-December and was wondering if the excursion is offered, even if it's early.
