Food and ice safe in Mexico?
Wondering whether or not it is safe to eat food and drinks with ice in major chain restaurants in Mexico, such as Cabo Wabo and Senor Frogs?

Also, do they sell bottled alcoholic beverages such as Mike's Hard Lemonade and/or Smirnoff Ice in Mexico?

Any advice on food/ice safety for Mexico, ie what is safe and what to avoid is appreciated?

food and water in all ports of call in Mexico is absolutely safe. Especially on chain restaurants. Do not worry at all. You can find bottled water and beverages as well, if you wish.

Cricket, you may want to bring the Smirnoff Ice ... never seen it in Mexico.

If you really want to be safe don't drink drinks with ice, don't eat fruit or raw vegtables. Get a prescription from your doctor just in case you get Montezumas revenge, better safe then sorry!

I disagree. I have been down to the Mexican Riviera 20 times, 17 on cruises. DO NOT drink water or raw fruit or ice in PV or Mazatlan. Cabo is OK. Order bottled drinks and use no ice. Even in mjor restaurants like Carlos and Charlies. Even if they sa it's OK. I spoke to a local doctor once in PV who said most of the illness he sees comes form those tourist restaurants.

While we were in Cabo in January of this year my daughter and I purchased Smirnoff ice from a liquor store just doewn the street from the Del Sol store. I think we paid around $1.25 for a single bottle. But they do sell it and it sure trasted good in Cabo!
