Default snorkeling in mazatlan/puerto vallarta?

Has anyone gone snorkeling off the shore , at any of these ports? somewhere you can walk as you get off the ship, so I dont have to book an excursion through the cruiseline?

There are no true snorkeling areas right off the ship, but I am positive some readers here could give you some tips on just catching a cab or shuttle van to a good area.

Default Snorkeling

Here is a web site. You can search under google for snorkeling Puerto Vallarta and find some options.

I'd be real surprised if there is anything at the port, you'd have to go into town to the Malecon, which is a long walk or a short taxi ride.

In Mazatlan make your way from ship by ferry boat across harbor where ship docks to Stone Island. Go to Molokay restaurant on the beach and there you can rent equipment to snorkel.
Have fun MazatlanMike

I took a boat right from the dock in PV. If you have the time to do it I would totally recomend that you do, it was the best snorkeling I have ever experienced! It was one of the highlights of the trip!

Have a great time!!

PS I booked through the resort we were staying at and other people we were staying with booked from the dock. Same trip they were very crew was very nice and very safe!!

Default PV - Is the water cold for snorkeling?

We will be in PV in October. What is the water temperature like. Is it warm like the Caribbean or cold like California?

It is going to be warm there definitely. The water will be really nice though.

We were there last October/November and the water was splendid. I have only snorkled once in PV, but a Catamaran took us way out...I don't know if this is accurate information but I hear it is generally not safe to snorkle right off shore there.

Now Cabo! There's some good snorkeling!!
