Default Just returned from Acapulco

Just returned from a 8 day cruise on the Spirit. If this had been our first cruise on Carnival, we probably would select another line next time.
However it was our 5th Carnival Cruise so we know what Carnival can do.
The Spirit was a nice ship but very vey quite..not at all the "party or fun" ship. There was no live music on the Lido Deck. All the other rooms that had music at night were dead. The shows in the Pharaoh's Palace did not play to a full house until the last nite. Karaoke was always crowded though. The food was great in the dining room but our wait staff was terrible. He would forget what we ordered an once forgot to serve us our salads altogether. He had absolutly no personality!! The casino was great and staff were exceptional as was our room stewart. The cruise director was Shawn Bussey from Miami. Only saw her at the eveing shows!!

Shore tours were GREAT!! We booked Rosie and she is a gem. We had her for 9 hours and it was only $30/person. We saw so much of Acapulco
including her parents home. Everything that had been written about her on cruise critic is absolutly true..she is great. I have her email address if anyone wants it.

In Zihautanejo we took a water taxi ($3) to El Gato beach. Sat in a chair in the water and raised my hand when I wanted the bartender to bring another Margarita!! What a great day..

Manzanillo we took the Colonial tour thru the ship. We went inland for about 1 hour on a very nice bus. Saw all the coconut plantations and lime
orchards that are produced for all of Mexico. We later visited the ruins and had a nice break in a very authentic mexican resturant. Our guide was a retired professor of geology and was very knowledgable .

This was our 3rd cruise to Mexico and I think we have seen it all...
Alaska is next

We just got back today from our second time to Acapulco -- this time on NCL Star. I gotta tell you, if you can book an excursion with Rosie, do it! We had a wonderful time on her tour ... she is *everything* you have read about. We were with her from 12 till 7:30 and saw *so* much, had a great time, and even got to the cliff divers this time (at night).

Her rates are super reasonable -- $40 pp for 4 people, and going down from there, till 8 people and $30 pp. She blows the ship excursions out of the water!

Here is her email:

We are looking forward to our Rosie tour next month. One of the posters on our CC roll call thread organized it. Due to a large waiting list, Rosie is having her husband drive a second van. Every post I've seen about her tour is very positive, so we are excited about experiencing Acapulco with her.
The man who organized the tour and I have both tried to start a roll call thread here on CM with no luck. If you're sailing Mercury 1/29/07, speak up!

If you can, ask Rosie and her hubby to take you to the Casa Blanca Hotel if you're with her at night. She took us there, and the view was *phenomenol* -- it's this deserted hotel that was something in its day. One of my favorite moments in Acapulco.

And please tell Rosie hello for Harry.

Since we don't leave port till 11 PM, we will be with her also in the evening. I've heard that she brings the vans back to the ship after the day tour so we can change for the evening. This tour should be a real hiighlight of the cruise.
