Default Costa Maya / Chac-Chi Beach Club

We are looking for any up-dated information on Chac-Chi. We have found a very nice personal web site with some good photos of the path way through the fence.

http://www.zydecocruiser.com/valor_0...e/chac_chi.htm

This web site also reads:
"Jan, 2007 NOTE: All recent reports I have seen indicate the Hole-In-The-Fence to Chac-Chi has been mended...

UPDATE: There seems to be a new hole (imagine that) in a different location. if you can't find it, I would ask at the Comisariato. They would know the location...."

If anyone else has anything to share about Chac-Chi. Please post away!

Chac Chi is easy accessible by taxi, although it is right net to the pier, for personal business reasons....there is no straight access, but it only takes a 5 minute taxi ride to get there...to the highway and after 1 minute turn back to the beach, there is also a sign for car renters..good luck..cool place

Well, we made it! After getting off the ship we walked out of the Port area. The guard at the main gate was tell some others that you can not get to Chac Chi unless you take an excursion! I told the couple to follow us. We walked up one block, took a right, and just past the stores on the left was the hole in the fence. We all went through and had a wonderful day at Chac Chi. No charge for use of the beach, he just asked us to buy lunch and drinks there. We did and everything was very reasonably priced.

If you ever go there, and the hole in the fence has been repaired, just keep walking through the gate that leads to a parking area. Once in the parking area, keep walking till you see ANOTHER hole! As of April 16th, there where two holes!

Bottom line, we had a blast and will go back!

Please refer to the posts on Costa Maya and Hurricane Dean. We took aerial photos yesterday of the pier, village, Mayan Ruins (Chacchoben seams to be intact completely) ..., and Chac Chi, which is right next to it...the structure and palapas are completely "wiped out" by winds and water, nevertheless there is good news, the beach has not been damaged and seemed to have gained more sandy surface in contrary to many other beaches that are just a rocky shore...but it will take time to clean and reconstruct.
Even tough reconstruction of the pier is considered...one needs to take into account a considerable amount of time for reconstructions (1.5 to 2 years) but there may be tendering opportunities earlier, also depending on available infrastructure and services. hope this helps, saludos.
