Help Have You been to LA PAZ?

I know nothing about La Paz is it more like Ensenada or Cabo San Lucas? Small fishing village or big college drinking town? Please help me out I'm trying to pick a cruise. All help is appreicated.

Small town - You have to tender in there is no port. I was there maybe 15 yrs ago.

Haha I was so drunk that I was trying to find a hotel and I kept asking in spanish for the shoe store. Ah good times!

Thanks for the insight. I was hoping it was a small town. But did you ever find the shoe store?

Haha no I didnt but thank god I found a hotel. Sleeping on the street in Mexico wouldnt have been fun.

I was in Cabos in March 2007 , We took a historial tour to La Paz . It was very interesting , not commerically like Cabos. It is the capital of Baja . There is a museum there, if you are history buff. There was large Mission church to see. On a small scale , it is similar to Pureto Vallerta in beach front area. Truly Mexican. If you can get a tour to Tortos Santo the art colony , that would be intersting. " A Hotel California" is there. Our tour guide said best Margartias in Mexico across the street from the Hotel California . I did not shop in La Paz but I am sure the prices would be better than Cabos San Lucas as it is not many tourists .

Most cruise ships go to/dock at Pichilinque; about 20 minutes west of La Paz. The cruise ships offer free bus transportation to/from the dock to La Paz. A very clean town; great for shopping and grabbing lunch and a few beers.

Our experience also. Not a very "touristy" town.
