Default Carnival in Cozumel

My husband and I (along with our 3yr old) are thinking of cruising to Cozumel in January but just saw that we would be in Cozumel on the first day of the Carnival Parades. This is our first cruise and our first trip to Cozumel.
Has anyone been to Cozumel during Carnival and if so what are your thoughts -
1.should it be avoided during that time?
2. is it too adult for a 3yr old?

Thanks for any help you can provide!!!

We have been to Cozumel many times, even in January, but somehow have never been during the Carnval. Try this link to get info about the Carnival. It might help.

Cozumel Insider has a lot of info on Cozumel that you will find very useful as well, not just the Carnaval.

It is clearly a great event..worth seeing and there will be entire Cozumel in downtown so not a good day for a city tour.
Very suitable for children as also many children and families are participating...these events are always suitable for children..is not like Brasil...good luck

Carnival in Cozumel is very much a fun time for kids. You will be exposed to dances in the streets-- all with colorful dresses and such, but if you want to get away from that and spend some time snorkeling and touring the island, I would suggest a Tour. I have a 4 year old daughter and we went on this Dune Buggy Tour while we were there. It was great. We had our own car, our own tour guide, lunch, snorkeling, shopping, got a full view of the island. It was worht it and it made it easy on me and my husband... we didn't have to carry Kayla. when she was tired, she just went to sleep in the front seat and that was that. There are also multiple stops, so she didn't get restless. And for us it was a blast too!
