Hi Grandy,
I did this same cruise in May of 07. Here is a link to my review http://www.cruisemates.com/articles/.../elation39.cfm The review has a link to my photo gallery from this cruise. You are departing out of San Diego it was so easy. La Paz is so pretty. However, when you get to port you will think, "this is ugly." There will be buses one will take you to the beach the other to town. We went to the beach the water was so clear and you could see fish in it. I liked the blow fish I think I have a picture of one in my photo gallery. The beach had snokel equipment to rent, banana boat rides, and a bar. We were the only ship in port and half the people went to town. The beach was not crowded and the ocean didn't smell like gasoline. La Paz is a great stop to just relax and swim in the ocean. 8)

Thanks for the good information and pictures. We were on the Elation 10 years ago, our first cruise. Looking forward to the ports on this cruise.

Bummer I think you missed it by a hair. Those whales in the video must be gray whales. http://www.frommers.com/destinations...tID=0966020604
La Paz, Mexico (Whale Watching)

Between January and March, and sometimes as early as December, 3,000 to 5,000 gray whales migrate from the Bering Strait to the Pacific coast of Baja. The main whale-watching spots are Laguna San Ignacio (on the Pacific near San Ignacio), Magdalena Bay (on the Pacific near Puerto López Mateos -- about a 2-hr. drive from La Paz), and Scammon's Lagoon (near Guerrero Negro).

Most tours originating in La Paz go to Magdalena Bay, where the whales give birth to their calves in calm waters. Several companies arrange whale-watching tours that originate in La Paz or other Baja towns or in the United States; 12-hour tours from La Paz start at around $106 per person, including breakfast, lunch, transportation, and an English-speaking guide. Make reservations at Viajes Lybs .
