We want to go to the Beach after shopping in Mazatlan and PV.
Can anyone recommend a nice swimming beach that rents loungers and has restaurants that is easy to get to by cab? I heard about Stone Island and wonder if that would be a good option. Does anyone know if the hotels offer the use of their facilities for a fee for cruisers? Any info is much appreciated!
In PVR take a yellow cab from the highway to Los Muertes Beach in old town. Nice area, plenty of restaurants right on the beach.
Good food in e.g. Langostines, La Palapa, Amapa and many others.
Bring your towel.

Taxifare should be around Pesos 80.- (US$ 10.), check with the driver before entering. White cabs at the port charge more.
Ine - interesting about Old Town Puerto Vallarta. I have never been there. I will have to check it out next time I am there.
There is a beach 5 minutes from the ship with plenty of hotels with great restaurants and nice beah swimming. You can just walk there. That is what I usually recommend but your recommendation sounds more colorful.

Thank you for the tips! When you say walk to the beach from the ship, once we pass the gas station, what hotel do we need to cut through to get to the beach? Or, is there a path to the beach? Old Town sounds fun, but we may not have enough time and maybe we will just walk to the beach.
Paul, the beaches around Old Town are smaller but more "mexican". There are some nice restaurants (some of them cheap, others a little more expensive).
All right on the beach.
The area of town is so interesting. At the moment the old pier there is under renovation, but once ready you will see people fishing, watercabs pickingup/dropping off passengers etc. Nice in combination with a walk over Malecon to see all the statues and then relax at Los Muertes.
