Kid-friendly beaches in PV and/or Cabo?

We'll be in Cabo two days and Puerto Vallarta one day next month during our Carnival Splendor cruise. We have a 5 year-old and one who's almost 2. We would love to find a beach in either or both ports that is (1) easy to get to (I'm a little nervous about cabs, but if you have advice about that, please tell!), and (2) safe for little ones to walk in the water. I'm a totally nervous mom and not really a water person so of course I envision scary drop-offs, currents, etc. They won't be swimming, per se, but we just want a nice place where they can get knee-deep and play, build sand castles, etc.

Thanks so much for any info about this or any other tips for taking little ones into these ports.

Although there are some nice beaches in P. Vallarta, most of them arenot realy nice for swimming by kids, the current and waves can be a bit strong.
The best kid friendly beaches are in Nuevo Vallarta, about 10 miles north of P. Vallarta. You need a bus or cab to get there.
However you might going to hotel Krystal, close to the cruise-terminal in P. Vallarta, they have nice pools and the hotel is on the beach.
