The following are the words contained in a review by Anne Campbell.
If you expect a pat, predictable American cruise experience of the kind delivered by Royal Caribbean, Princess and Carnival, then MSC is not for you. Unlike Costa, this is a genuine Italian cruise experience that best suits Americans who are flexible, willing to try something new, and understanding of cultural differences. On Opera and sister ship Lirica you won't find art auctions, drinks -- or anything else -- being pushed for purchase. But you can expect to dine on outstanding Italian cuisine every day, served by Italian waiters. This is a ship for night-time meandering from one lively lounge to another.
Sounds pretty good to me! Even if not a Premium experience!!
Thanks for the quote...I still feel that way. The Italians on my ship were lively and determined to have as much fun as possible. There was a dance class in a public room and it was full of folks aged 4 to 80 having a blast. The cabins are tiny, my mattress was very hard, but overall I'd love to go again. And, this ship has the best masseuses afloat -- no attempt to sell any products and even said a tip was unnecessary!
I think people who like this ship are up for a new cruise experience. All sorts of nationalities, everyone having fun. Don't expect it to be like Carnival, Royal Caribbean and you'll have new expriences.
