Default MSC extra charges 2006/2007 Caribbean season

Charge for tender service ???????
On their web site, under tours they have the following charges
Cayo Levantado D.R. Private island
To get to the private island $24.00,to get to the private island with lunch $39.00.
What next???? any tendering ports will there be a extra charge too. Isn't the food served on their island from ship and shouldn't be extra.

Thanks, I found it. What I was doing was clicking on 2006 since our cruise is in Dec and not on 2007.

Just wanted to let you know that I saw those similar charges on the 2007 cayo levantado excursions and emailed the company which in return emailed me back stating that there are no charges for use of the beach or the buffet lunch- these are included in the price of the cruise....

I just returned from the Lirica. They do charge for the tender to the private island $19.95 plus $10 for the buffet. I passed on this and went into the little town of Sanama. Friendly people , nice little town with a active market and you can also tour the area in a cab for $20 per hour with as many people as you can fit in the cab for that hourly rate. Most people from the ship did the same thing.

maybe if everyone opts not to pay the extra $$
they will include it. was there a lot of people
going to the private island? Also, did they do 2 stops when they dropped you off at sanama?

I agree with you, was'nt that terrible. They give you towels the night before but no mention that they will be charging you to take you to the beach. Samana, Dominican Republic is a waste of time, some people got off the tender and turned around and went right back without going into town. MSC should be ashamed of themselves.

This is a cruiseline that should be bypassed. I have been on 24 cruises and they had the worst breakfast and lunch of any cruise I have been on. I'm usually not fussy about food but stewed octopus, meatloaf, not my taste. I ate burgers most of the time and that's something I never eat on a cruise. Deserts, two choices, that's it. Your school cafeteria probably serves better food.

Note: Pursure's desk does not cash cheques or change money. MSC has a 'bank' onboard. They charge you 3% to cash a traveller's cheque. If you want to change $100 bill to smaller bills, they usually don't have any change. They are also only open a limited amount of time. Heck of a system, very frustrating.

Default Just back from 11 nights and

they ended up NOT Charging for the tenders to Cayo Levantado and Samana. I would have to guess that very few people signed up for the tenders for them to make this change. They did keep the charge for the buffet on the island and Very Few people took it. It appeared that the buffet is actuall provided by the hotel on the island. The cruise passengers are not allowed on the part of the island that has the hotel but the area to use is very nice. The water was great, many beach chairs which cost us $2 for the day.

Over all we had a great time and most likely would sail with them again. I plan on doing a review in a couple of days.
