Default Costa vs MSC

I've sailed on Costa before. (Costa Victoria). Has anyone out there sailed on Costa and MSC recently? How do the two Italian based lines compare? I realize Carnival has taken over Costa since I've sailed a few years back, but is there really noticeable differences between the two?

Hello, only my personal view and feeling ,but for me MSC is still a little bit more Italian then Costa. But i must admit that they both lost a lot of their Italian identity after entering the US market .It is not easy to please so many different nationality's.

My husband are considering northern Europe in the spring. We have no experience with MSC or Costa other than what I have read. MSC reviews seem to be better. We love Celebrity and HAL for the service and FOOD!
Any opinions on either line or the N European itineraries would be great.
THANKS!

Have not sailed MSC but have sailed Costa quite a bit. Food on Costa is not up to par and dining room service has been slow on all the Costa ships we have sailed. I'd give MSC a try but understand Europeans will be the norm, not North Americans.

Celebrity or Princess is our current most cruised lines.
