Hi,
I just booked for Mar 3rd 2008 on the MSC Orchestra out of Genoa, Italy.
Has anyone sailed on this ship?
Any info you could give me would be great!
just sailed a 17 day cross atlantic voyage from genoa to fort lauderale, miami!!
i luved the cruise even though many others didn't!
the people on the ship were generally VERY VERY OLD!! these ppl COMPLAINED all the time and hence DROVE me mad!!
there were very few younger ppl but since it was a large enough ship...there were enuff to have a good time!!
DON'T worry about the language...ENGLISH seemed to have preference over everything...all of the waitors were from INDONESIA hence they were fluent in english and indonesians...but they weren't able to speak other languages...
the cleaners were typically from madagascar hence they spoke FLUENT ENGLISH n' FRENCH...
i cant speak a fair variety og languages, but it didn't seem to come into use because of it...
i found the cruise neglected the younger crowd hence kids of the age of 10 got away with smoking and drinking...
Electro, just got back from 2-09 cruise on this ship. The ship is the worst ever. I'm a frequent cruisier and want to get the word out for all USA to never use this ship.
We sailed on the Orchestra Feb. 21 to Feb. 28th. This was our 49th cruise. We found the ship to be well kept, the cabins have a lot of storage, good wait staff in the dining room and buffet. Try there pasta dishes - especially the ones that are made to order. Yummy and I don't usually like pasta. The primerib and filet were about the best we have ever had. If you are a dessert freak you will be a little disappointed. A cruise is what you make it. If you are nice to the staff they will bend over backwards to be good to you. I wish they would have lounges on the prom. deck for reading. The ones by the pool are not to comfortable for reading. he shows were good - at least the ones we picked were. They are very good at getting passengers on and off but tendering was more than slow. If you have any questions feel free to private message me.
YES i HAVE. hOPE YOU haven't been on any other cruises and this is your first then you will happier than me. The food was not good, the service was not good. Usually you get at least water filled at your tables and this guy had to service 10 other tables, which usually it's only 10 so never saw him. The food came out at different times. I was finished with my meal while other's at table just getting there's. Just telling you this so you can be aware of it and you can request service at one time or as I did got 2 cups of coffee, hahha. Mine was out of USA so maybe the crew is different. If this is your first you'll love it i'm sure but if you compare it with other lines you would be unhappy like me
My wife and I used the Orchestra last Oct on a European trip. The ship is a couple of years old so you would expect it to look stunning, and did not disappoint.
BUT it was geared up for Europeans and NOT British, so with this in mind I would NOT travel on MSC lines if it was in European waters. Further afield I might consider.
If British leave well alone......
