MSC Cruises has joined a growing list of cruise ship operators that have eliminated their fuel surcharge.
Last month, MSC eliminated the fuel charge on all cruises leaving on or after April 1. At that time, MSC Cruises’ management said that it was considering eliminating the charge on all 2009 cruises if fuel prices remained stable or continued to drop into the new year.
On Wednesday, the cruise line said it would eliminate the charge for all cruises setting sail next year.
Passengers who have paid the fuel supplement will receive a shipboard credit.
Should fuel prices go up and the cruise line has to re-implement the fuel charge at a later date, any passenger who has made a deposit will not be charged.
