Geneo Cruise Port Safe?

We are doing the transatlantic cruise on the MSC POESIA which its final Port is Genoa.
We are taking the train up to Milan and we are wondering if it is safe to walk from cruise pier to train staion in Geneo and also how far is train station from Pier?

I know this is an old thread, but Genoa is very safe and a very beautiful port. Sailed to and from Genoa Feb 25, 2012 and the train station is within walking distanceif your luggage is not too big or heavy. It is uphill. MSC makes you leave your cabin at 7 am on disembarkation day, so get on and off in Genoa, which docks at 8 am instead of Barcelona, which docks at 1 pm. Everyone has to sit in all the public areas with all of their carry on luggage from 7am until disembarkation. But go! The MSC Spendida is a beautiful ship and Genoa is magical.

Thanks for answering, I was going to say the same thing. Genoa is a lovely and safe Northern Italy city, Frankly, southern Italy is known for being not so safe.
