Default Bar Harbor substitute

Does anyone know why Celebrity has substituted Martha's Vineyard for Bar Harbor on its New England/Canada Cruises this fall? We are booked on the Galaxy out of Baltimore on 9/27.

It's on the Celebrity website. I also called Captains Club number and they confirmed, but didn't know why the itinerary changed.

I this just for the Galaxy? Our first stop out of NY on Constellation is Newport RI so I do not think this applies to the Constellation from NY

On the Galaxy itinerary out of Baltimore Martha's Vineyard has been substituted for Bar Harbor. I believe on the Constellation itinerary out NYC, Bar Harbor was dropped and you have an extra sea day.

As a native of MA... no offense, but we have been to Bar Harbor which we found charming, but crowded with cruisers and tourists and we enjoyed our unexpected cruise there last September. Martha;s Vineyard I think is a great alternative...not exactly for the poor..lol.. When I think of popular ports I think of Hamilton in Bermuda..where thousands of cruisers are getting off the ships, thousands...there are usually docked three ships in Hamilton...not to mention the Dockyard or one or two in St. George. You will love the charm of M.V. and if you get a chance to see the homes enjoy...

I'm on the Connie on October 11 to New England out of NY.

I'm disappointed about not stopping in Bar Harbor Maine (I've been there, but my hubby has not), but I would love to go back to Martha's Vineyard. Hope our ship stops there.

I would think you would have to tender to the Vineyard. Do they now have a port there?Last time I was there was about 20 years ago. I would rather not have a sea day.

hmmmm...that now puts us with 5 sea days (counting Sag River) on a 10 day cruise. That is a lot of sea days. may have to re-consider this itinerary.

It looks like neither weeks on the Constellation are going to the Vineyard.

I guess it might be because the Galaxy is going out of Baltimore or because the Galaxy is a smaller vessel.

Too bad, I love the Vineyard.

we were in marthas vineyard in june 2001, and it was the most enjoyable stop. you don't have to book an excursion. just walk around and see the sights. we did get lost, but all worked out very well. an island resident and family were having a b-b-q and offered us food and drink and then took us on a tour of the island for the entire day. it was terrific!
