Hi I will be on the QM2 Sept. 29th cruise to New England/Canada and was wondering if anyone can suuggest any sops that might be open that time of year selling Christmas ornaments,Santa's,Angels and other christmas items.
I don't know about Quebec, but I live in Halifax and there's a store called "Christmas by the Sea". It's on Hollis Street. It's probably a 15 or 20 minute walk from the pier. Just follow the boardwalk and ask an the information centre how to get there (the information centre is across for a small playground). The store is open all year and has some great stuff. Have fun!
Michelle, there is indeed a WONDERFUL shop that sells nothing but Christmas ornaments in Quebec City. It is open all year round and is in the downtown area (Old Quebec). It is called "Boutique de Noel de Quebec". 47 Rue de Buade. It is in "Upper Town" on the same level as the Chateau Frontenac. It is just a couple of blocks from the boardwalk and across the street from Cathedrale Notre Dame de Quebec. It has one of the largest and most extensive collections of Christmas ornaments tightly packed in a 2 story quaint shop. It is worth browsing even if you don't buy anything...but you will.
I will be looking for that store also. You mention walking along the boardwalk in Halifax. Is the boardwalk suitable for a small scooter? Also will I be able to take it on sidewalks? Anything special I should know about the use of a scooter in town. I can walk, but only short distances. i usually do not take the scooter into shops. Will be in halifax on the Galaxy the first week of October.
