There is an advisory on canada Parks website abt strikes/pickets next few weeks in Canada. (also see cruise addicts under New End) Has anyone been up there recently with any first hand info? Seems most all are open & OK but would hate to get caught in labor strife--Glad we booked ship's excursions-they'll know how to avoid any problmes,,,one hopes!
The Grand Princess docked in St. John's Newfoundland Sept 9th enroute to New York city. The ship was planning to cancel the scheduled stop over in st. John's due to the current Parks Canada strike. However an agreement was arrived at between the city of St. John's and the strikers, in that the strikers agreed not to picket or block access to the parks Canada sites at Cape spear, Signal Hill etc. while the Grand Princess was in port. Everything went wonderfuly. The situation was explained to the passengers and many were very appreciative of what the strikers had done to make their visit as pleasant as possible. Hats off to the Parks Canada workers in Newfoundland.
