Default please help with queries

I hope you will be able to help with some of our queries and thanks in advance.

hoping to book new wengland cruise on Celeb. Constellation 5th oct 2006 - we now know it leaves Cape Liberty NJ. Weplan to fly in day before from UK and stay overnight so to be sure to be there in time

1) Flying into Newwark - where can we stay preferably close to cruise port and somewhere which is walkable to restaurant and with shuttle from airport (and even better with shuttle to cruise port)

2) when we disembark ship on 17th we wanted to add 2 nights in NY onto our trip - how/best way for 6 adults to get from ship to Manhatten - and also whats the best way back to Newark airport from Manhatten?

3) Will we have a problem booking taxis for 6 of us in one - or is there bigger minivan taxis around that will take us and our luggage?

Thanks (I'll no doubt be back a few times with more Qs)!

You don't seem to be getting many answers. Let me at least try to help. Do some exploring on the web for hotels in the area of Newark Liberty airport. There are Sheratons, Hiltons, Holiday Inns (all the name chains) in the vicinity of the airport.
The hotel can fix you up with a car service to the pier (if they do not offer transfer in their own vans).
Taxi's in this part of the world are generally NOTmini vans or certainly not big enough for six plus luggage. You will either need two taxis, or, a private car service or limosine service that offers a van . Can't recommend any by name, but can suggest you do web search for car services in NYCity.

I live in NYCity and if you want to book reservations in the city for 2 days, you can also inquire about renting a Mini-Van 7-passenger vehicle at Newark for the 2 days. Most hotels here will assist you in your options to get to their location and will also, if they have the accomodations to park under or near their building, help you with car reservations, pricing, requirements for foreign visitors (licensed driver, insurance coverage options, etc). If you are staying in NY from Newark for 2 days you will have the rental vehicle be returned to the airport, which is usually what people opt to do. It would be silly to rent a van in NJ drive to NY and take a bus back to NJ, wouldn't it?

i am going on an E/Carib cruise June 5th out of NYC on Carn/Legend - 8 nights round/trip. One of the ports we dock in is St.Thomas, USVI for over 11 hours....taxi fare is not cheap, we are seven adults and they charge for each person in the vehicle. my agent suggested renting a Mini-Van at the dock site and we can drive to all the places we plan to visit while there. We figured it out - beaches, Coral World aquarium, shopping areas & malls, and back to the dock.....7 adults would run minimum of $63.ea for all the trips we want to make that's $44l.00 for one day's transportation! I booked with Avis Rentals through my AARP membership and have reserved a 7 pass Mini-van with luggage racks and storage bins, I am getting a late model air conditioned Ford (Ithink Windstar or equivalent) no tax unlimited mileage, just re-fueling on return and using my private Car Ins. policy here in NY (totally allowed) for 8 hours Total cost: $89.24!

So, explore my suggestions - it might be the best route for your needs. have a wonderful vacation and welcome to my part of town!!! I reside a mere 6 miles from the heart of Manhattan in Times Square - stop by and say hi! (hee hee) If I may further assist you, don't hesitate to pick my brain apart and I will do all I can to accomodate your queries. My name is Donna - you can send pvt. msg to me if you wish as well.
