Going to Bar Harbor? Read this.

Just got back from the Golden Princess. Be aware there is a FREE shuttle in Bar Harbor to visit Acadia Nat'l Park (Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, Cadillac Mountain etc., even SW Beach). Walk up the hill on the main street (not very far) until you come to the park on the right. Turn right and you catch the bus on the opposite side of the park. Be sure to get on the route you want. We took route #3, got off at Sand Beach, spent some time there, then walked to Thunder Hole and got the bus back. They will drop you off any where you want if you tell them (trail heads etc.) and will pick you up anywhere they see you along the road if you wave them down. Run every hour on the hour from the park in town this time of year, EXCEPT the line #3 put on an additional bus because the cruise ship was in, so actually ran every half hour. Drivers not supposed to say much (not allowed to compete with Ollies Trolley or ship excursions) but can't help themselves and tell you all about the area anyway. It's a great deal --duh, it's free. We had GREAT weather and it was beautiful..................enjoy.............
