Advice from New Yorkers?
I will be visiting NYC for one day only (5th Oct.). What are the "must do/see" things for a first time visitor, and how easy is it to get from place to place? I've been told to visit the Nat. History Museum, but where else should I go? I'm not a big fan of shopping.
The museum is interesting, but to appreciate it would take an entire day.
You might want to consider visiting Little Italy, Chinatown,Soho and Greenwich Village. They are close together and you can see the entire area easily in one day.
Little Italy has great restaurants if you like Italian food.
An average taxi fare would be no more that $15 each way from Midtown.
Any questions please ask
I only had one day to visit New York city after my New England Cruise. We took the subway from New Jersey to 33rd street stop to look around Time Square. Then we took "N" subway and got off at Canal street to visit Chinatown, walked on Mulberry street which is Little Italy and then walked back to WTC sub station to take the bus back to Jersey city. If we had time, we would have taken the subway to Central Park. If you have time, try a Broadway show.
