transportation from newark to nyc

My family plans to fly in a couple of days before the cruise to see nyc. What is the best way to get from newark to nyc? There are four of us - all full grown- with 5 to 6 pieces of luggage. Would we fit into a cab? Has anywho used supershuttle?

We are also flying in a couple of days in advance and out TA has us booked at a hotel that the cruiseline offeres transfers to the pier.

Have you looked into this option, it's a win deal for us since we won't have to deal with the luggage!

Btw, there will be 8 of us, 5 adults, 1 almost 20 yr old and 2 kids (ages 6 and 9).

What hotel are you booked at?? We will be in NYC in Sept 2008 for a couple of days before our New England/Canada cruise. I am having the hardest time trying to find a decent hotel that won't cost an arm and leg.

We will be at the Hilton Penn Station.

We used Lincoln Limousine Inc service when we were in NYC. Actually we took it from Manhattan to the Newark. We landed in Newark late at night and took a cab to our hotel. But we highly recommend the limousine people. Ask about round trip rates..

I have a small group of family/friends also doing a pre cruise stay this Sept. We found pretty decent rates at the Hotel Beacon It is upper West but right near the subway. It is really great if you can share a 2 bedroom suite with 5-6 people.
As for transfers, I found Black Cars email info@blackexecutivecars.com
at a flat rate of $85. for up to 5 persons to transfer from Newark to the hotel in Manhattan..
