New England cruise and kids???

Just wondering if any of you ave taken your kids on a New England cruise? My kids really want to go whale watching and go to a beach!!!!! We want to go this summer...we prefer to cruise out of Philly or NYC. Can we do it for $2000 or less for the 5 of us...2 adults and kids 1,6,9 y.o.? We had originally booked on the NCL Sky for August but will probably be cancelling as we think the heat will be too much for our 1 y.o.!!

We will be sailing on the Explorer in two weeks with our kids, ages 6 and 9.

They will be fine, excited as this will be our 3rd cruise so they know what to expect.

It's fun this time around as I have some "older" excursions planned since they have aged. We can do more exciting things. They are also looking forward to camp! I am too!!!

Depending on what kind of cabin you have will determine if you spend more than your budget.

We book a year in advance and that way we have the cabin we want with enuf room to move around etc. We also have a chance to budget more as we are a one income family.
