Have stayed in an owners suite on the Sky with family members next door in the Penthouse suite. They are lovely with a huge forward facing balcony. Please note a few things. The balconies on level 8 penthouse suites (forward) are larger than those on level 9. My Mom will be staying in Penthouse suite 8202 over our Christmas cruise this year. It is really one large room with a very large balcony and very well appointed. While the bathroom is not huge, it is very nicely outfitted. The butler service in the suites is fantastic including laundry everyday and any meal served course by course in your suite. I understand that the penthouse suites in the rear of the ship are a bit larger inside, but the balcony is longer and more narrow. Note that beginning next April, NCL will charge more for. the rear penthouse suites than they do for those facing forward. Overall, I do not think you will be disappointed. Let me know if I can answer anything else.
I'm taking my Mom on her (and my) first cruise. We have an opportunity to stay in the owners suite on the sky, or the royal suite on RCC's enchantment.....any advise on this would be helpful, I'd like it t o be really special for her.
(is the owners suite on the sky the top category? or the penthouse?)
The Owners Suite is the top accomodation. I sailed in one (8201) last Christmas and am sailing in 8201 for two weeks next month over the holidays. They are wonderful suites...and have excellent concierge and butler service including complimentary laundry each day. Let me know what specific questions you have and I'll try and answer them for you. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The Sky owners suites are not the typical NCL, but a real step up from my experience last year.
Susan---Last December some of my family members sailed next to our owners suite in penthouse suite 8202. My recollection is that they received exactly the same perks that we did in the owners suite...sail away champagne ( Moet as I recall), complimentary laundry service, full butler service, concierge service (hope that Anne Smith is your concierge as she is fantastic), in-suite dining served by your tuxedo's butler (Jimmy and Udah then who were both fantastic) and I belive, but am not sure, 4 bottles of complimentary liquor as well as a refrigerator stocked with all your favorite sodas. You also receive priority tender service, priority embarkation (Anne escorted us to our suite about 12:15pm and our luggage arrived and we were unpacked by 3pm). We are sailing in December in 8201 (owners suite) and 8202 (penthouse suite) for two weeks next month. Check back with me after new years and I can tell you more then. The only thing is that the verandah's are larger on level 8 than they are on level 9. Any chance that you can switch to 8202? The cabin configurations are a bit different as I recall, but level 8's have deeper verandah's.
