I recently read that NCL parent Star Cruises has decided to leave the
SUPERSTAR LEO within the Star Cruises brand and instead send the new
SUPERSTAR LIBRA directly to NCL for the Hawaii cruises. The NCL
brand will now take delivery of both Libra class vessels, with the
first most likely to be named NORWEGIAN LIBRA. The LIBRA will assume
the previously announced 7-day Hawaii cruises planned for NORWEGIAN
I would not hold too much faith in Norwegian's Customer Service Department. They will probably be the last to know. If anything, this is great news as a newer, bigger, and more spectacular ship will be based in Hawaii. The ship will also be specially designed with "FreeStyle Cruising" in mind.
OK. Just got off the phone w/NCL reservations department. They stated that the decision to replace the Leo with the Libra (of the Star?), has NOT BEEN MADE. However, if anyone is booked for the Leo, then they will be contacted immediately and their reservation transferred to whichever ship will handle this route.
Whew! Booked for the maiden voyage, December 16th, 2001.
Calgon, I would call back now the Reservations Department has started taking reservations already the only thing that is going on right now is what the offer is going to be to those already booked on the LEO. The Details are going to be described in an upcoming press release. More Details to come.
Is the maiden voyage date going to remain Dec. 16? The reason I ask is that I thought the Norwegian Libra/Star will be ready in October. Anbody know what she will be doing until December, if the sailing date remains the same?
The first Sailing Date is still Dec 16 2001 and it is possible that the ship needs to modified to fit Norwegian Cruise Line changes and to remove the Casino from the Original plans. Also it could be possible that NCL wants to showcase the ship on the East and/or the West Coast. Either way the first Sailing Date will be Dec 16, 2001
