We are booked on the Star for the 7 day Hawaii cruise in June of 2002. We got a cabin upgrade to an AI category from a BC category - cabin #1500 on deck 11. I was told that this is a mini-suite, but when I go to the NCL web site the lowest mini-suite is an AG category. There is no AI category listed at all. I know that the website for the Star is still under construction, but I was just curious as to what kind of cabin was AI and what is it's normal pricing. Does anyone know when the website for the Star will be completed? I know that it's first trip to Hawaii is Dec. 16th. Any information would be appreciated.
We also are booked on the star for june 2002 , but i admit its hard to get info on the ship as she is not yet completed. I am very surprised that ncl is taking bookings so far out. We dont have a suite but a cat AF which is 245 sq ft plus balcony. It also has a jacquzzi and sounds like a great cabin. We are taking the family(two teenage boys)and the rate ncl gave was outstanding. We look forward to having 2 days at sea on a 7 day hawaii cruise because thats our favorite part of the cruise.
I'm sure we will be able to get more info on the star closer to completion or after she is finished.
We are also taking 2 teenage boys and friends are going with us in the next cabin with 1 teenage boy and a teenage girl. I am sure that they will meet up and probably be friends by the end of the cruise! Their ages will be 16, 17, 18, & 19 by June 2002. Our rate was fantastic also and we took an extension of 2 days after the cruise through NCL. We will probably go ahead of time as we are using frequent flier miles to get there so that we can adjust to the time change. We will be celebrating a high school graduation, 2 birthdays and a 25th anniversary while aboard.
Hi Pam.. i am in the same boat so to speak..(no punt intended) of trying to find info for this ship.. I am going in March 2002 for a Honeymoon vacation . I have some concerns as you might have of what type of suite i am getting and if I got it for a good price. We are in the catorgory of BC or BB and i will have to get back you on how much it came out too. My future bride is in charge of that. But can i ask you how did you go about getting the upgrade and how much does an "A" catorgory go for. My other concerns are minor. For one I never experienced a Norwegian cruise and me and my fiance have been on 3 cruises with 3 different lines and notice the difference.. So far Celebrity is the best..but they dont travel to Hawaii... thats why we opted for a Norwegian Cruise and its new ship. Also the ship has no casino for Federal reasons which is a bummer, not that i am a big gambler, but i like to have that option .. i was wondering what else they would have a on the ship besides restaurants.. I am looking forward to your response P.S i will get back to you with how much we paid and the room we got.. Thanks.
This will be my first NCL cruise. I like RCCL, but wanted to go to Hawaii , but didn't want to go from Mexico or Vancouver. WE have been to Alaska, Bahamas, Med. and Panama Canal. We are taking our first trip ever to Europe in June. It is so nice to unpack once and yet get to see so many places and do so many things. Plus you don't have to worry about where you are going to eat or sleep. You are treated like royalty.
There are all kinds of activities on board which can be as much excitement or as little as you want. If you go to the NCL website (NCL.com) and click on the Norwegian Star there is a section for press releases. I find the easiest place to go is to the deck plan section and you will see that it is under construction. Under it is a section that says itineraries and then press release. There are some awesome descriptions of the ship and some of the activities both on and off the ship.
We ordered a BC cabin at $1450 p/p double occupancy and were upgraded to an AI category (of which there is none that I have been able to find) and was told it was a mini suite and was given the cabin # on deck 11. All of the cabins on deck 11 that I have been able to find are AF & AG categories. I am wondering if because I ordered 15 months in advance that AI category is going to turn into an AG category because all of the AG cabins are sold out for my cruise. I would just like to see a deck plan and see if my cabin really exists!
A cruise is a perfect honeymoon. We are going on this cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary. We honeymooned in Hawaii! I look forward to hearing from you.
Pam, thanks for getting back to me...we got upgraded to a BB and we are paying somewhere around $1150. I just hope i am getting a good deal and i hope that i wont be disappointed on a NCL. Its my first time i like Celebrity cruises i think they are the best, but they dont go to Hawaii. I heard good things about NCL that they are at that level..but i have to experince it first hand. Anyway, let me now if you hear of any good things about the Star ( other then what is on the website). Also let me know if i can help you answer any questions.
We are looking into booking the Norwegian Star for 6/16/02-- our agent found us a great rate for inside with upgrade to outside (837 per person!!) but..the outside is the category G with the obstructed view. We can also book an inside with upgrade to outside for 1187 per person or balcony for 1287 per person..the obstructed cabin is best for our budget,,I just wish I could look at a deck plan and see what I might have to choose from. Any thoughts from others investigating this ship. I have a hard time booking blind!
