Default Bringing beer/liquor onboard

Read an article from the Orlando Sentinel that said NCL has the strictest regulations and confiscates. Does anyone have any recent experience? We've taken beer onboard in the carryon luggage and no problem with Princess or RCL (though this same article said RCL will confiscate - and Princess doesn't care). Thanks.

Just returned from a cruise on the NCL Sea. I packed a bottle of Jim Beam in my checked baggage (the plastic bottle). I had it sitting out in our cabin until it was gone, and no one confisicated it. However, I didn't walk around the deck swilling it out of a paper bag!

Thanks. I'm more interested in what someone knows about bringing beer on board in a carryon bag. Figured we could bring liquor on board in a checked bag.

I have seen them confiscate the liquor in carryon luggage. If you want to take liquor on an NCL ship then pack it carefully in your checked baggage.

I have cruised NCL 4 times and never seen them pay any attention to liquior brought on at embarkation, but have seen them take it if purchased on islands. If fact it has happened to us. To be on safe side it would be better to pack in regular luggage. Nita
