Norwegian Sky
Hi everyone! I just recently (January) went on RCCL's Explorer of the Seas where I was surprised to find out that they had lowered the drinking and gambling age to 18 years. The other three cruises that I had been on prior to this trip was 21 or over. I am 18 years old and was traveling with a group of 15, seven of us being college-aged. The age lowering made my cruise experience better because I was allowed to actually go into the clubs and casinos with my friends and not have to worry about being stuck with my parents the whole time or being in bed before midnight, because who wants that? The same group that I went on Explorer with are thinking about going on a New Years cruise on Norwegian Sky this coming December. It seems like a nice boat and intinerary but gambling and drinking is for 21 years and older. By this December, I will be the only one in that group under 21 so I am worried that I might not have as much fun. It seems like Norwegian Sky caters to the under 17 age group and the over 21 group. What is there to do for someone like me, in the 18-21 range? Are we still allowed to go in the night clubs? If anyone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Norwegian Sky
Pretty sad that you have to drink and gamble in order to have fun.

I don't think it's sad at all. What a ridiculous comment! i know exacly what you mean. We would like to tale our 19 yr old son with us but are afraid he will be bored not because he "needs" to drink & gamble but beacause the teen functions are for under 17 & the adult activities over 21 so what do the "inbetweeners" do..

Re: Norwegian Sky
My family went on the SKY the week prior to Christmas 2000. My 16 year old daughter told everyone she was 18. She was in the bars until all hours of the night. Her room key was computerized with her age so she was not allowed by the bartenders to buy drinks. (We bought her friend and her drink wrist bands for soda's and they hid them from everyone) None of the other kids would buy her one as they were all with their parents over the holidays and would get in trouble. She wasn't there to drink but to dance and have a good time. She said they did request anyone under the age of 18 to leave the bar at 9:00pm but she and her friend stayed anyway and had a blast.
