We are also planning to take taxis both from the airport and back to the airport.
My question is: Will we have a problem getting a taxi once we get off of the ship or will there be plenty of taxis waiting? We have a 2:00 pm flight, so we shouldn't be in much of a hurry, but we certainly don't want to be left without transportation from port to Miami International!
We recently sailed out of Miami and the ground transportation was a breeze!

Just back from the NCL Dawn yesterday.......NCL will charge you $12 per person (one way) for their bus to the ship, while the taxi ride is only $18 + tip for the cab (not per person)....If I had know that before I left there would be no way I would have stood for an hour in the Miami airport baggage area waiting for their bus! On the return trip we had an 11AM flight from Miami and took a cab (there were plenty) and in 15 minutes both of us & all our luggage were in the airport........
NOTE: The ship cleared customs a little after 9:15AM and we were escorted off the ship at 9:30AM by the Concierge (A service for suite passengers only) so we were the first group to disembark......If I ever sail NCL again (which I doubt) I would book a later flight as they don't rush you off the ship ...you disembark when you are ready......
We just got back from the 4/11 sailing of the Majesty. We took the NCL transfers. Trust me -- take a taxi! It was not a good experience for us at all. Actually, the whole embarkation process from airport to ship was a nightmare, but that's a whole other topic!
A few posters asked why I don't think I would sail NCL again......while my "other half" loved not having to dress for dinner, we both agreed that several other cruise lines we have sailed were just a little bit better in the areas of Service, Food, Menu selection, Staff attitude, cabin size, etc. We actually booked the NCL Dawn because it was going to Totola BVI and not many ships out of the mainland USA stop there (we didn't want to fly to San Juan) My personal favorite cruise line is Celebrity. We have sailed Celebrity , Princess , Disney, Royal Caribbean , and NCL......and that's listing them in my personal preference order......Not that any of them don't deliver a good product......but Celebrity just seems to be a cut above.....But it's only my opinion after 12+ cuises, and please note that we are in our fifties, so we may not be looking for the same cruise experience as a younger couple might!
