This is the first time we'll be taking a Taxi to the port (in Miami). I'm wondering what's the best way to make sure our luggage gets on board the Majesty?
In the past -on Carnival ships- we take a Carnival taxi bus to the port and they stack your luggage all together and make sure it finds its way on the right ship. We also always knew our room numbers too - not the case this time.
I hear it's cheaper to just take a regular taxi from MIA to the port - so that's why we're doing it this way. What do people do with their luggage when they first arrive?
We have a "guaranteed" room so we're not sure what cabin we have yet.
The last time we booked a very last minute cruise and we had a guar cabin....we did this.....When we got off the plane in Miami we looked for the people at the airport holding the sign with the cruise line name on it...they will have a clip board and the cruise passenger listing...they should be able to tell you your cabin number and supply you with luggage tags for your ship that you can write your cabin number on.....if they can't supply you with your cabin number they can at least give you luggage tags for your sailing that you can put your name on....then you can take a cab to the pier and give your bags to the porter there.....if you have no cabin number you may have to drag your luggage to the registration desk.......(We experienced this before 9/11 so all this info may be outdated) The cruise lines should be able to give you your cabin number at least a few days before you sail.......keep calling them!!
You may very well ab able to get your cabin number prior to sailing unless you book at the very last minute. Your TA will be able to help you or as Kathy suggested call the cruise line before leaving. No matter we you can get your cabin number as soon as you arrive at the pier and the porter will help you with the bags. As said, tip him up front; much better service!!!!
