I was delighted to read that NCL purchased these great Ocean Liners, giving them a new lease on life.

The United States held the record for speed in the early 1950's, crossing the Atlantic in 3 days.

I hope that NCL will retain the vintage decor of these ships, albiet a total rebuild.

I look forward to cruising on these venerable beauties. Folks will have the opportunity to experience or relive life on an ocean liner, rather than a mega cruiseship.

Hopefully these ships will feature traditional cruises---------not freestyle. The exception being disembarkation, when guests may await departure in the comfort of their cabins.

I read in an article regarding NCL buying United States that they have every intention of turning it into a freestyle ship. I didn't here anything about their plans for Independence yet.
