Default Houston Port

I will be sailing on the "Sea" soon. Can someone recommend a safe, decent hotel close to the Barbours Cut Terminal. I will be staying in LaPorte the night before the cruise. I have read from boards that this was an unsafe area. Any info. will be appreciated. Thanks.

Sure hope those board messages about La Porte are wrong.
I found one message that said the Best Western in La Porte was a good place to stay and have booked in there for a couple of nights next week prior to leaving on the Sea.
Will be driving in from Canada with another couple next week. If it looks too scary, maybe we can fortify our rooms and hunker down until embarkation. Seriously, though, can understand your question/concern. It is very close to, or is in, the industrial area. Probably not the place for late night walks, I guess.

Cathy, the problem is the pier is in the middle of nowhere. We stayed near the airport and took a taxi to the ship and the ship's transportation back to the plane; just an idea. Have a great trip. The Sea may be an older ship with very small cabins, but we found the crew to be wonderful and it was one of our best cruises.

The area of LaPorte is NOT an unsafe area.

There are some good hotel in LaPorte, about a $5.00 taxi cab ride to the "SEA".
There is a LaQuita Inn and Best Western Inn, all near by and safe. Call directory assistance for their number.

Do NOT listen to those people who cliam its unsafe. They are wrong.
If you are driving your car to the Norwegian Sea, NO problems.
The parking is on Port of Houston property with heavy security around the clock.
