Have u all sailed on NCL - in other words - u are all past passengers? Is there any reason to book a guarantee if u have never sailed before? How often have u been offered an upgrade with extra $ required over a free one? Have u been upgraded more often purchasing a guarantee over booking a cabin assignment & then been offered an upgrade? Sorry so many questions but I feel many are curious about this as I know I am. Appreciate answers - Many thanks...Happy Cruisin'!
Booking a guarentee cabin is a personal thing. We almost always do unless we just feel we have to have a certain location or whatever. We have never been offered an upgrade with an extra charge, always free, but never has it been a great upgrade. I would be more inclined to book a guarentee if you have never sailed than if you were accustomed to a certain type of room. Just make sure the guarentee is a catagory no lower than what will satisfy you and don't be disappointed if you are not upgraded. One time our daughter got upgraded from a standard outside cabin to a suite> Another time when I was still a TA a mom with her 3 daughters got upgraded from a minumum inside cabin to the top deck outside and paid less than we did for an outside standard on the same sailing. Other times I had cliants that gambled and may have gotten upgraded in the eyes of the cruise line, but had a worse ship location. happy cruisin and you should be happy no matter what you decide.
I've never been offered an upgrade and have booked guaranteed several times. How do they contact you? Do they phone, mail a letter, or will your travel agent call you? I've always hoped for an upgrade but have yet to get one.
Thank you all for your comments,
In retrospect here is what happened:
We booked an outside view gty, lowest category on the Sea: category H.
We were upgraded to a category DD, on the Promenade deck. This is about a $100.00 value.
Yes! From Category N on the NCL Wind to Category ii - which basically is from the bottom of the ship to the top - however, still an inside cabin although larger than those on the inside on the bottom!! Am still hoping for an outside cabin on embarkation day!
I was offered an upgrade on the Dawn via telephone by Travelocity from an AG Mini-Suite to an AC Penthouse for $200 per person ( 4 cat upgrade) . It's our first cruise and we're leaving tomorrow. Ill let you know how it goes...........
Jeni enjoy your cruise and let us know when you get back; ;surely it is worth every penny to upgrade
Chip, we don't know anybody. Did you book a guaranteed cabin or did you pick your stateroom? That makes a big difference.
We always pick our balcony stateroom. I guess that is why no upgrade! We are sailing in 11 days on the dream to the Baltic. We are in cabin 8071 at the very last cabin in the aft. Someone told us they thought the entire back wall is floor to ceiling glass. Do you happen to know?
It would sure be nice to get a suite, but I guess I shoild be happy to even cruise again!
Chip, have a wonderful sail. No I don't know about the NCL Dream and the aft part made of glass from floor to ceiling, but if you have any special questions to ask, you can contact the Norwegian Customer Service group through firstname.lastname@example.org
She has been wonderful in answering all my questions about our sail.
