Default DAWN REVIEW 5/16-5/23 04

MAY16-23rd ‘04

EMBARKATION
Very well organized-roughly 30 minutes. (Bus-to-Ship) @ 2PM.
SHIP
The DAWN is incredibly beautiful, really large, very new & very clean.
Don’t miss the fitness center’s big pool and Jacuzzi, it’s great after a long day.

STATEROOMS-
Small but adequate for two (inside 11579). Only used the room for sleeping and changing. Had balcony before, didn't miss it. The TV in the room allows viewing of the ship's bow with everything in front of the ship. (Channel 2.

RESTAURANTS –generally good with better quality on cover $$ restaurants.

Venetion- big and well decorated- FREE fair / too big
Aqua—smaller with same menu- FREE fair / smaller
Impression – cozier with same menu - FREE good /cozy
Blue lagoon-24 hour service FREE always available (fair)
Room Service- 24 hours a day FREE ?? didn’t use
Poolside Buffet- FREE OK – more food
Le bistro- $20 cover exccelent
Cagney- $15 cover very good
Bamboo-take or leave it- $15 cover good/if you like Japanese food
Salsa-?? Mexican food nice setting
La Trattoria-?? Italian

SHOWS-
They were OK, could be better. Wouldn’t hurt to have a known artist/singer.
Comedy was very good.

ITENERARY-advertised as Bahamas with only 4 hours there.?
SUNDAY Leave NY at 4 PM.
MONDAY Day at sea-great for get to know ship & some sun.
TUESDAY Port Canaveral-good variety of shore excursions.
WEDNESDAY Miami-always a great spot-South beach, downtown, etc.
THURSDAY Great stirrup Cay- Just a plain beach day with a barbecue.
FRIDAY Bahamas-Nice place to visit, but the stay is way too short. SATURDAY Day at Sea-Just in time to relax and enjoy the ship, sun, & fun.
SUNDAY Desembark-10 12 AM.

DEBARKATION
Once cleared, it only took 30 minutes

OVERALL-
A good experience, as always when cruising. NCL as a whole was very enjoyable.
Smooth sailling with no need for motion sickenss aids.
A mix of passengers, children, teens, 20-50, 50 & over.
If you want to find fault, you always will. Be positive and you’ll have a great time.

Suggestions:
Skip the Cay Island for a one more Day in the Bahamas.
The Soda program needs to go as well, just charge an extra $5/10 to each guest and make it FREE!

Oh Yea! 7 Days=no rain all Sun.

My husband and I were on 5-16 and we were also on a bus coming from RI. I have to say agree with most of your comments. Everything went smoothly for us also. A few more things to add. Ladies if you have a problem with air conditioning, bring a sweater or wear long sleeves. Dinning rooms, lounges, theatre were way to cold for me, but not for hubby.
I did have a problem with smoking passengers not understanding where they could and could not smoke. But I did not voice my opinion only on the comment cards.
I have to disagree with you about the entarinment. Names mean nothing to me so I thought all the shows were wonderful and done very professionally especially with the top notch theater they had to work with. I got a kick out of our cruise director but I guess is on vacation and someone heard that he was not sure if he would be signing with ncl. Our stewards, bar staff, waiters and every other person who served us was absolutely wonderful.
Our excursions to NASA, the Everglades and Atlantis were fine. Short but fine. Taking in mind that we are in our middle fifties.
We met lots of nice friendly people, felt the older senior citizens were rude to the staff for no reason. I know that does not pertain to all of them one of the couples we met and spent a great deal of time with were in their 70's and were wonderful people.

It has taken me all week to get back to normal. I would definitly cruise the Dawn again and never go back to a smaller older ship.

Great review !!! I like your layout. I also enjoyed your comments Nc.

I am cruising on the Dawn in just 10 days. !!!!! This will be my second time. Took the Dawn on the same week last year.

I know the ship fairly well but I have a question about movies. What were the movies being shown in the rooms as well as in the theater.

Thanks

The movies in the room were the same as shown in the theater, but a day or so later if I remember correctly. I ran across Claendar Girls and All about Polly on the TV which were also listed on the Daily for the cinema, but not sure about the others. Just happened to find them while surfing channels (16 I think), never noticed a schedule.
