I think Free style is great. When we ate early, we never had to wait. We only needed to call for reservations a couple of times (Group of 10). Arrived at our time and went right to our table.

We were on the Dawn a couple times and liked it a lot. Last time we got upgraded to a Penthouse suite and the room was terrific. Just be patient getting on the ship because you're in New York and it's a madhouse. The best way is to wait till aorund 3 PM and you walk right on. Getting off the ship in NY is quiet an experience. First time we were 163rd in line for a cab. Great cruise ship. Plus it has a self service landermat if you need it.

I dont think its going to be that crazy at the ship terminal since the Dawn is the only ship leaving that day!

You won't meet them on the Dawn.

Just tables for two.

Not much naural mixing with the rest of the guests.

On the other hand, ship is gorgeous and food is unbelievable, even in the buffet.

Best way to get a cab is walk across the street and hail it yourself. I've taken four cruises from NY and my average wait time for a cab is three minutes.

Don't wait by the dispatcher.

I found that the Dawn, like some ships now, have laundermats and you can do your own laundry so you don't have to pack as much and it's easier to carry your luggage across that street to get those cabs. They only charge for soap so you can bring your own if you want. First time we took the Dawn was a 10 day and we took way too much luggage to even get across the street. Learned our lesson very quickly. Very nice ship.
