Default "Push Beds Together"??

I was looking over the NCL website for my 10/31/04 Spirit sailing. I saw that one of the options for "extras" is to "Push the beds together." Is this something that I can do once I get in my room, or is there a special procedure that is known only to NCL staff? I know this sounds silly, but I am trying to figure out why this is an option when booking!!!

The beds are usually set up as 2 singles... one on each side of the room. We simply ask the room steward to put the two beds together to make a queen size bed. If I'm traveling with my mom, I tell them to leave it as it is.

The steward then puts queen size linens on the bed also, so it's just not a matter of pushing the two beds together.

Just a note. There are some inside cabins on the Spirit where the beds can not be pushed together.

On the HAL Oosterdam the 2 twins were put together to create a queen and we noticed they used a mattress pad so that the seam wasn't noticeable.

No extra cost at all, they will usually do it for you when they notice a married couple. Or when you go to dinner, then leave a note asking for them to take care of it for you.
