Default Anyone back from Dream

I think there were a few people from this board on the 10/10 sailing of the Dream. I am anxious to hear any review you might have. I am sailing Jan 23rd. I hope you had a great trip and look forward to any pictures or thoughts.

i sailed on the Dream Oct. 10th. Must say I have mixed reviews. I had a 6th floor oceanview room. The room was great. You had a small seating area by the window with a curtain separating the beds from this area. The jogging track is directly above on the 7th floor. It is also the promenade deck. My roommate and I could hear the folks running above us. Very annoying. No soundproofing. Also, on the promenade deck, there are no chairs to sit on. I enjoy relaxing in the shade while cruising. There is no place on the Dream for that.

The food was wonderful. The only bad meals I had were all in the Sports Bar/Grill. I am not a picky person and I would give the place a big zero. We tried it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service was terrible. The food was terrible. They close early...Just don't have a good thing to say about the place. However, the other dining venues were great. We were lucky to have great dining companions and enjoyed stimulating conversations. And we met the nicest people!!

We were dropped off on our excursion at Cancun. It was Garrafon Reef. Absolutely beautiful resort. But for the first time ever, we were on our own for an excursion. We had no guide from the private tender the Dream provided nor was there anyone from the Dream with us. I have never been on an excursion where you had no contact with the ship. A storm came...quite severe and we had no one to talk to.

On all my other cruises, I have left with the impression that the cruiseline wanted to make my cruise as enjoyable as they could make it. That they would go the "extra mile" to make me smile. I am sorry to say that I did not feel this with the Dream. I did encounter rude personnel at the excursion desk, at the sports grill and in the casino.

But believe it or not the good still outweighed the bad. I think this was a good cruise not a great cruise. I believe the Dream is a good cruiseship for an experienced cruiser. I don't think they explain procedures well enough for a first timer. I only knew how to do some things because of my prior experiences. The ports are beautiful. Especially Roataan. Just love the island. And yes, I would take this cruise again.

Thank you for taking the time to give me your review.
I am on the 5th level, however will be one of those annoying runners on deck 7 a few times during my cruise. I am glad to hear that the good outweighed the bad for you, and hope it will for us also.

Thanks for the input....ironically, I agree with you about the Dream....good points....I like the Dream very much, but, I probably wouldn't recommend the older ships such as the Dream, the Wind, or the Majesty to "new" cruisers....I don't think it would be as good of an experience for them as the would on the newer Ships...

They would definetly be disappointed with the Dream...But, but I like the smaller, older ships better...I've been on the Dawn, and liked that ship too, but I just like the Dream better....

You are absolutely correct though, the Dream has it's issues...the Sports Bar is a joke...I agree with you, some of the service is poor, and some of the food is anything to "write home to Mom" either, but, we are going back in November for two weeks anyway......

We are on the SIXTH DECK with an Oceanview......We just did a last minute upgrade thru NCL's reaccomodation department from a category K inside, to a Category C oceanview for a mere $75.00 a week, per person....that's a homerun....I guess, for less than $590. a week total (cruise port and tax) for each week, I can put up with the Sports Bar and the runners on Deck seven... Another reason why I like the older ships, lower cruise fares....

Don't wait for your TRAVEL AGENT to help you with an upgrade, wait til day number 30 before you cruise, and call NCL reaccomodations department yourself, and see about upgrades and deals.....I called every week for the last 3 weeks, got NO offers, No deal, the first 2 times I called, and I finally got a YES and a great deal on the third call...Be persistent......

By the way, what time in the morning does NCL the allow running above on DECK 7? And how loud is loud..... on a scale of 1-10 (10 being loudest) .....

Thanks

I was aboard the Transatlantic cruise this past Sept. aboard the Dream and l certainly am in agreement with the rude personell who are on this ship. It is simply unbelieveable!
I was cheated out of a tour to Paris (the only reason I booked the cruise) by some young lady (wish I could blast her name all over the net) who refused to honor my confirmation(s). I contacted the main office and l sincerely hope they take some action against her .
