My wife and I did the Kona Body Glove snorkeling back in July. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't remember what the cost was, but considering all the excursions are high it was worth it. I think we traveled about thirty minutes before we stopped not far from shore near a reef. The water was relatively calm and we saw several species of fish and a couple of moray eels. The crew was good and snacks on board were good after an hour of snorkeling. On the way back, we went a little out of the way and saw several spinner dolphins. We snorkeled in the afternoon, so we tendered ashore as soon as we could in the morning and got in a little sightseeing and shopping in Kona. Another suggestion; if the food is still an issue as it was in July, you might try lunch at Bubba Gump's on the beach. It was outstanding. Even if the food is good on the ship, I still think it's worth the trip. One other suggestion; if you really enjoy snorkeling like we do, you might try the Molokini Crater trip on Maui. In our opinion, it was even better than the Body Glove trip. The only problem I've heard about on that excursion is quite often the seas are too rough around the crater, and they take you some other place.
Thank you so much for the info. We will be going in February when the waters are suppose to be rough, so I thought we would pass on the Molokini Crater trip and try a trip on Kona. We will definitely try Bubba Gumps! Thanks again.
I'm doing this trip in about three weeks, and have heard good reports about it. Keep in mind that there is a buy one, get one free coupon in the Hawaii Entertainment Book, which will save you some serious money on this trip. However, you can't inform them that you are from the ship or they'll insist that you book it through NCL.
