I'm taking a cruise on Norwegian Star on 12/31/04...I've taken Royal carribbean cruises before.. How does this one compare?? better??? worse??
Is Freestyle cruising better???
going to the mexican riviera, which excursions would anyone recommend???
any info woudl be greatly appreciated

Shayla, we're going on that cruise too...but the week after yours.

I have cruised both Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. I think Royal Caribbean is a little nicer. I LIKE having a specific time to eat, and knowing who your tablemates will be. But the Freestyle is nice too...and the food is very very good!

Can't answer your question as we have not been on RCL. Have been on Celebrity.
We've done 4 NCL cruises and this is our second time on the Star. This is our 3rd consecutive NEW YEAR's with NCL so obviuosly we like it .

No, it certainly won't be a big wedding! We are from Melbourne Australia, and therefore it will only be my mum, dad and dad's gf that travel over to L.A also.

We will be having the big party beginning of Feb in Melbourne when we return.

We are 32 and 35(i am 32 on the day of dept from L.A and the wedding day-31 Dec!)

Is the owner's suite one of those garden suites? Or is the garden suite something different?
I can't believe it's just us 3 parties on this cruise or at least willing to chat about it!!!
First cruise out of 9 that I've seen such little pre-cruise banter on cruise message boards.
And a New Year's cruise to boot......perhaps the ship is filled with maiden cruisers???......you think?

My husband and I will be on this cruise also. This will be our second sailing on the Star. The first was in Hawaii in '02. Looking forward to seeing the changes they've made since that time. We mainly use RCL but decided to try a closer port and semi-familiar ship instead of flying to the East coast for a cruise. We are booked in one of the Penthouse Suites and looking forward to this so much. Does anyone have information about this category other than what is shown on-line?

Does anyone know if there are any special activities for New Year's Eve planned?

What do you want to know about the PH suites? We just got off the 12/15/04 cruise and were in caing 11030.

Not many direct responses. The star is beautiful. Probablymy favorite ship. Freestyle cruising caters to a couple. You can do what yo want, when you want, with who you want. With a group, I prefer assigned seating so you have a common meeting time. You will have a great tine,

Have so much fun. I highly recommend the canopy tour in PV if you can still get it try on line. It is great.. The one advantage to freestyle is you never have to hurry to dinner. We requested the same waitress every night, because we like getting to know the crew.
