strictness of bringing alcohol on board at ports of call

I hate to admit this but we shoved it down the back of our shirts and didn't have a problem going through the metal detector getting back on board. If they find it, they'll just hold it until the end of the cruise and then give it back to you.

We brought on a couple of bottles of wine in our checked luggage and one in our carry-on when we boarded the Crown in Valparaiso. No problems. Later in one of the ports, a friend brought on a bottle of wine and I had a couple of bottles of beer we had purchased. We showed them to the X-ray person and he let us keep them.

We went on the Star in Jan to Mexican Rivera. They are strict about bringing alcohol on board. We bought some tequila in Cabo, and they took it away and we couldn't get it until the morning we disembarked.
We have been on 20+ cruises, and they all say they will 'store' it for you, but this is the first time that they actually have.
