La Quinta, La Porte, TX

11 of us are sailing the Dream on Nov 26th. Thinking of reserving a room the day before at the La Quinta there close to the port. Wondering if anyone has used them and had any comments. Service, Cleaniness, Crime in the area?

I've never stayed there, but I live in LaPorte. LaPorte is a very small suburb of Houston. The cruise terminal is in a very industrial area, but crime is low. Also if you are looking for any night life, there is not much to do in the general area. The LaQuina is realatively new though.

I read there are several Antique Shops near by. Is that true? I repair Antique Clocks and always looking for a bargain.

When we left out on the Sea, we stayed at the Comfort Inn in La Porte. It was nice! Great breakfast. There is even a shuttle that will take you to the port and bring you back to the hotel. Free Parking! I think the cost was comparable to the La Quinta. Plus, the police station is right across the street from the hotel, so we felt perfectly fine leaving our car there...plus we saved on parking.

Another choice you may want to look into is Kemah, Tx. there is a place called the boardwalk that has a lot of places to eat and a amusement park. We stayed at a Days inn in March when we cruised on the Sea they had just open the weekend before we stayed and it is next to the police station and about 8 miles from the port.
