The final payments are made and it is time to start the roll call. Who is joining my sister and I on the Nov. 13 sailing to the West. Caribbean on the Jewel?
I just returned from the Med. Treasures cruise on the Jewel and I will be glad to answer any questions.
Hi - we're planning to take the Med cruise next year Sept 2006 (12-day) on the Jewel. Any tips you have about the ship or ports of call>> some recommendations etc>>interested to know.
Which shows are the best....restaurants to avoid...things we need to book early or we lose out on>>>-that sort of thing. Any special people/staff wise that would be good contacts to have to get "extras" or special things booked etc.
Its our first trip to the Med>but don't want to get caught in all the tourist traps. will want to see the usual things too I'm sure>.suggestions??
What are the shore excursions like with NCL?? Also if you can give a breakdown of prices onboard>>like what drinks go for? shore excursions? onboard shopping?
Very excited- been on NCL before a while back>> thanks Gill
Such a lot of questions to answer. I'm not sure where the start. I didn't see any of the production shows onboard. Show will probably change before you sail. I can't think of any restaurants to avoid. I don't like the Tex-Mex in Tangos that much, but that is a matter of personal taste. I thought that the food was good at the rest of the restaurants. I like the food at LeBistro the best.
We took all NCL shore excursions. They were probably a little bit more than on your own but we have always felt that NCL arranges good tours and we were a little afraid of not getting back to the ship on time.
I will answer some more of your questions at a later time.
There should be lots of reviews coming our on the Jewel. Be sure to read them all. When I took my first NCL cruise I got a wealth of knowledge prior to the cruise from reading the posts on several cruise message boards.
No one answered me on the other board - also going out on the Crown on Sunday - Me and my mom will be on the Jewel - so count on two of us - can't wait
Marilyn, that isn't fair: you get to go on her again and I have to be happy with the Celebrity Zenith in December!!!!!

I am taking my sister on this cruise as her birthday present. She has never cruised before. We are booked in a courtyard villa suite. I am anxious to see what the high life is like on deck 14. We are just being two little spoiled brats cruising. She works for Continental Airlines and travels alot.
Got my documents today !!!! Now this cruise is a reality.
I remember you are going on the Zenith for your granddaughters wedding. Isn't Celebrity a luxury cruise where you are spoiled? It has to be a great cruise with so much family onboard with you.

Should I let Ruth and Klaus Know you are coming again. I know Klaus is getting off the ship in November just not sure when.
Shoreguy: I told Klaus when I was onboard that I would be on in November. He said to call him once I get onboard. My DH accidentely tossed out the business card he gave us with his personal ship number. I was going to ask you for it. It probably would be better if you told him I was coming again because you are shoreguy and you have a great relationship with him. I'm not sure he will remember who I am. He sure was wonderful to us on our cruise.
I also told Ruth that I would be joining her again as Joyce and I are in a courtyard villa suite. Once again, it would be great if you told her about us coming. I don't have hers or Klaus's email address.
I am gathering people for our CC meeting onboard. I kept the email address of the contact person at NCL you gave me before. I assure she is the same person I need to contact. Your meeting when so great, I have some questions for you about what you secret is to getting people so enthused. Should I email you?
Marilyn, yes, Celebrity is considered a little more upscale, but I didn't find it mush different. The Zenith is a small ship and getting up there in years but apparently has great service. We will not be lucky enough to have a suite: DD and hubby will. We did opt for Concierge service and having all our family plus lots of friends will be a blast. As for you, what a way to spoil your sister; did you get interline rates with her working for Contenental? With our daugters both in the airline business we try to take advantage of cheaper cruise rates, but most of the time we just pay what the going rate is. NMN ita
Nita: My sister didn't investigate her rates through Continental because she could only find rates for this cruise for inside and outside cabins. I wanted to book the Courtyard villa. If I get her hooked on cruising, I'm sure she will be booking her next cruises using her perks from the airline.
She will in a way see what an inside cabin is like. We talked about wanting the perks that come with the A3 courtyard villa. Non of the suites have the twin bed option so I chose the A3 because it is like the AB Penthouse suites I have stayed in on the Dawn and Star. It has the childrens room which is a windowless room with a sofa bed, ample closet and a bathroom. We will share all of the big livingroom area. She says that as long as she can use my whirlpool tub she is very happy.
Can't wait to get some of my money back from the Jewel casino.
Not to change the subject - but Thank you- thank you- thank you I'm so glad there are laundry facilities on the Jewel - making final payment today - Going out on the Norwegian Crown Tommorrow - (no laundry facility) hope to see a lot more posts when I get back
Marillyn, I didn't think you would be able to get a suite using her perks. A good portion of my clients are from the airline industry (isn't email wonderful?) I have had them for years and rarely can they get anything better than a balcony.
Enjoy your wonderful experience with your sistier.
Less than a month now until the beautiful Jewel. I thought I would bring this thread up to page one again.
Any more fellow cruisers for the Jewel Nov 13.
Nita: I can see some disadvantage to the perks of working for the airlines. Sis and I were going to fly together. She using her perks and I was to use a buddy pass. Well, that was before she realized that we are leaving Salt Lake City during a three day holiday weekend (Veterans Day) The flights are getting hard to get. And to compound the problem, we are returning to Salt Leke the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Being scared about two of us finding open seats, I booked my airfare on another airline that I had an expiring unused ticket on. She is going to have to leave on Friday morning in order to have a lot of flight choices to get her to Miami on Saturday. Salt Lake being a Delta hub not a lot of Continental flights. That is why it so important I think to get to the port city the night before your cruise.
