Default Poll: Do you Use Alternative Restaurants?

With the number of alternative restaurants on NCL ships do you use them?

On my last NCL cruise I ate at almost all of them and found most of them to be very good with Cagney's and LeBistro to be excellent. In my opinion LaTrattoria was fair, while others in my party thought it was wonderful.

So, do you opt for the alternative restaurants or stick with the no charge ones?

Take care,
Mike

I can't imagine cruising on NCL without using them. This has been one of the best features of NCL since the 90s when they introduced Le Bistro. I do know some who do not and this is just fine. If passengers are satisfied with the main dining rooms, good for them. NMNIta

I use the other resturaunts on board. Using the same resturaunt everyday can get boring. I do it for a change. Henry

We definately use the alternative restaurants. Our favorite is Le Bistro. A lot of people complained about the extra cost but really, for an additional $10 for a great filet minion or $15 for surf and turf, where could you do the same?

Also, our party of four loved having the escargots for appitizers (with me being the only exception) but I got them anyways and let the others split up my plate.

Seriously, it is well worth the extra to have the reservation and the extra service that we were afforded in the restaurant.

We try the alternative at least once during 7 day cruises. The main restaurants are very good, but the alternatives are "A step above."

CAGNEYS IS GREAT! IF YOU GO THE FIRST NIGHT THE COVER IS $10, AS OPPOSED TO THE NORMAL $20.00 COVER CHARGE. THE DINNER WAS FANTASTIC AND THE CHEESECAKE FOR DESSERT IS A MUST!!!
(WE ACTUALLY WENT BACK OUR LAST NIGHT TOO AND PAID $20 PP!)

TEPPANYAKI .... A MUST FOR EVERYONE! I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT THE COVER WAS ( BETWEEN 10 - 20) ...THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS AND PLENTIFUL - GO HUNGRY! EVEN OUR PICKIEST EATERS ATE THE FRIED RICE AND CHICKEN. IT WAS ALOT OF FUN ... VERY ENTERTAINING!

DON'T FORGET TO MAKE ALL YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY IN THE TRIP OTHERWISE YOU'LL BE OUT OF LUCK!

MY KIDS LOVED THE ROOM SERVICE ..... PIZZA, GRILLED CHESSE, CEASAR SALAD AND THE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE WERE GREAT!

GARDEN CAFE .... ALWAYS A WINNER , ESPECIALLY FOR BREAKFAST!
(INCLUDED)

AQUA ... NOT TOO IMPRESSED WITH THE FOOD AND THE SERVICE WAS SLOW.
(INCLUDED)

MEXICAN REST - OK ....

LOST 10 POUNDS BEFORE THE TRIP AND ONLY GAINED BACK 2 ON THE TRIP! THERE WERE ALWAYS LOTS OF VEGGIES/SALADS/FRESH FRUITS AND OTHER HEALTHY CHOICES. DON'T GET ME WRONG ... I DID ENJOY THE ICE CREAM EVERDAY AT THE POOL!

WE HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME .. SO SAD ITS OVER!

2/12/06 - 2/23/06 .... LEFT IN THE BLIZZARD OUT OF NYC ... NCL DID GIVE US A CREDIT AS THE SHIP WAS LATE DEPARTING OUT OF THE CITY DUE TO THE STORM. I DO THINK WE SHOULD'VE BEEN COMPENSATED MORE FOR LOSING THE LAST PORT , BUT I LOOK FORWARD TO SAILING WITH THEM AGAIN!

ENJOY YOUR CRUISE!

Prices depend on which NCL ship you are on: some charge $20 for Cagney's while many are $15 unless you order surf and turf. The is true with Le Bistro as well; it can be anywhere from $10 to $15 depending on the ship. I am so glad you enjoyed your cruise, I can't wait til we leave on April 15th. NMnita

We are cruising the Sun on April 15th and will not eat dinner in the same restaurant twice. There are so many choices. Just learned you can have breakfast in Pacific Heights, the healthy choice or healthier choice restaurant as well as tapas for lunch. It just sounds so yummy!!!

Yes, but only occasionally, maybe once a week. Just for a little variety.
