Default Coffee makers?

I feel like I read some where that there are coffee makers in the cabins on the Spirit. Can anyone confirm that for me? I've also read that it's not easy to get a GOOD cup of coffee on board so I wanted to bring my own.

Susan:

I can only relate to the Star: The mini-suites were the only cabins with "real" coffee makers. They supplied Folgers. They were nice. The other cabins had the Hot Water pots.

However, in the buffet and the restaurants they served brewed Folgers in the urns. I saw them make it and even helped one young lady carry a box of bulk bags. It was NOT concentrate as some folks have claimed. I think the problem is how long the coffee sits in the urns and how often they are cleaned or how well they are cleaned is what has more of an effect on the coffee.

Take care,
Mike

Hi Susan,

Like Mike, we haven't been on the Spirit, but on our last cruise on NCL Sun (balcony cabin) we had a real coffee maker and they supplied packets of Folger's coffee.

DH was very happy !

Hope you have a great cruise with good coffee,

Fern:

Cool: That's great to know that the balconies also had the coffee makers on the Sun. On the Star the BC's had the Hot Pot but there has been "talk" that coffee makers may be implemented in more of the cabins. I sure hope so. That was one of the better amenities I've had on a ship. The coffee maker was a true four cup coffee maker, not the tiny two cup coffee maker that most hotels have and our cabin steward made sure we had extra packets of coffee.

Take care,
Mike

Were they the kind of coffee makers that need the pre-packaged filter packs or regular filters and coffee?

Hi Susan,

I believe they were the pre-packaged packs. I don't remember having to wipe up spilled coffee !

Also, we had only decaf on the first day . When DH asked for regular coffee he was told they were out (?), but they left regular after the evening turn down. (Maybe they hadn't unloaded it yet?)

I don't drink coffee so I didn't pay much attention, but DH says the coffee maker was like the Mr. Coffee 4 cup we have at home.

Can't speak for the Spirit, but I too was on the Sun, and even my economy class inside cabin had a 4 cup coffee maker. They were the Folgers redi-packs. Soooo nice first thing in the morning. And with the 'frig in the room I could snitch lots of half and half from the buffet rather than using the powdered moo.

enjoy

We were on the Spirit's second sailing to Alaska after she was sent
over from the Orient. Don't know about outside or inside cabins,
but our balcony cabin had a coffeemaker and they supplied both
regular and decaffeinated each day. Needing two cups to wake
me up I went for my second up on the Lido Deck (deck 12) and
seemed to me it was just as good.

Does anyone know if there are coffeemakers in Ocean-view cabins on the Pride of Aloha?

The spirit does have coffee makers, but they use the coffee that comes in little packets. What I did was to buy a box of these at Costco (way too many but I used most of them at home. Room service can deliver you a pot of coffee. Coffee on the ship isn't the greatest but is drinkable, except in the bar area and that was horrible. Don't expect anything close to Starbucks anywhere on the ship.
