Default Norwegian Crown ran aground

Just heard that the Norwegian ship Norwegian Crown ran aground while coming thru Spanish Point into Hamilton, Bermuda today. No major damage, passengers okay. Check your news stations for further updates.

It sounds like it was under control of the pilot when it ran aground and it's stuck there until high tide. That will be between 5 and 7 p.m. local time.

The passengers are now being tendered into Hamilton. Initial inspections show that no damage has occured to the vessel. It's too bad that the Norwegian Crown is in her last season with NCL. She has been sold to Fred Olsen cruises and will be offically transferred in October of 2007. As of now she is being or will soon be leased to NCL.

Take care,
Mike

Default It's Free: It's Free

The Norwegian Crown was pulled free as of high tide with no damage. It will skip Hamilton and return to Philadelphia on schedule. There were no injuries and the cruise line reported it as "A minor inconvenience".

No mention has been made about compensation or other issues. I imagine there will more talk about this when passengers return from the cruise.

Take care,
Mike
