We are cruising in Aug. We will stop in Bermuda and thought we would just go to elbow beach. Do we take a cab about how far and what is approximate price to get there. Are there places to shop right off the ship in town.
We are only in the Bahamas until around noon. Do we have time to get to Paradise Island . Where would you go to go to the beach there. How far a cab drive is it. Also is it easy to get a cab back to the ship as we are limited with our time.
I know that we have to wear slacks or skirts to dinner. Is there any restuarants that you can wear dress shorts and a shirt or not on the Dawn
I've been to Bermuda two years ago and where we are docking is by the old fort and crafts market, which is not spectacular but you might want to look as long as we're right there. The Frog and Onion Pub is right there as well and is very nice. Getting around the island is super easy. Get a Bus/ ferry pass for the day and you can get on and off as much as you want.
We get into Nassau at night so a lot of people hop off the ship as soon as we dock at 8:00 and grab a cab, or should I say, one of the million cab drivers grab you. So, there are plenty of cabs available at the dock and at Atlantis, if that's where you want to go. Other things like the Straw market are closed at that time.
As far as wearing shorts to dinner, I forgot that you weren't supposed to on m y last cruise and nobody said anything, but that wasn't this cruise line.
Are you going on the August 5th sailing?
When are you sailing? I will be on the Dawn August 5th. She is a beautiful ship. There are no short for dinner but Capris are fine. No formal nights unless you want to dress up. A taxi to Elbow beach will be pretty costly. Aproximately 35-45 minute ride. There is a bus that will take you for $5 each way or $12 for an all day pass if you want to see more of Bermuda. If you sit on the right side of the bus, you will get a great view of Bermuda. The buses run about every half hour and it takes about an hour to get from Kings Warf to St. George. Then you can take the bus back to Hamilton and then take the ferry back to Kings Warf for an additional $5. Not a bad way to see the island. But if you just want to spend the day at the beach, it's still a good way to travel.
In the Bahamas you can take a taxi to Paradise Island. It is a short ride. You won't be permitted to stay at the Atlantis to sun bathe but you can use the restaurants and casino. It is a beautiful property to see. I hope I was a little helpful. Susan
