Default Embarkation Day Lunch

Is the buffet the only place to get lunch (1:00 p.m.), or can you also go to the restaurants.

Though the buffet lines would be very busy, and would prefer to use the dinning room.

Usually one of the main dining rooms will be open for lunch, even on embarkation day. We prefer to eat there over the buffet, now that we finally figured out it's an option.

Check out your freestyle daily after you board and it should give you information as to which restaurant is open for lunch.

Is room service available on embarkation day afternoon? We last sailed on the Disney Magic and learned from previous cruisers that one unadvertised secret is the availablity of room service right after you embark -- it came in really handy as our toddler was exhausted that afternoon.

On our cruise last week on the Dawn, the Venetian Restaurant was open from 12:30-2PM for lunch and the Luncheon buffet in the Garden Cafe was open from noon-3PM. The sailaway buffet and BBQ was held from 4-PM poolside.

I don't know about room service, but this is probably one of NCLs biggest weakness: room service menu. I would prefer to try the buffet of dining room. It is fun to venture out and see what the ship has to offer. NMNita

I have to say that on our NCL cruise we went to the BBQ buffet and it was awful (I think it was cooked at least a day ahead)! We started to eat and then said to each other "Why are we eating this?!!" We dumped all of it and went to the buffet! It wasn't a whole lot better, but it was better than the overcooked pork chops (like leather!) and sausages on the BBQ buffet.

Next time we'll go to the dining room!

had a very nice lunch in the main dinning room, simple but nice, it was good to sit down and relax after a long drive.

Default Lunch

Buffets whether breakfast, lunch or supper are NOT strong points with NCL, except their barbecue with the ribs. We prefer to eat in the dining room on embarking..but I have heard they have at the hamburger spot on embarkation ribs.....and the ribs are to die for...at least the one we have had.
